Hi Andrew, that's a really good point - many thanks for raising it. Yes, you're right: there was a Forest Charter in 1217. I didn't mention it as I wanted this piece to be relatively short and to keep the focus on Magna Carta. But Coke did discuss it and it crops up a fair amount during the 17th century as well. So certainly scope for anothe post on the law of the forest, enclosure of land, etc.
